How the investigation works
The Polaris Institute posts one silhouette per round and hides most of it. Five wedges of the picture sit behind five clue tiles, and each tile is a fact about the hidden Aniimo: its stage, its battle role, its element, its Pathfinding and its form. You uncover a wedge by photographing any Aniimo that shares that trait, so a lucky snapshot of something you already own moves the board.
- 1Open the event board
The Events menu carries a Who’s That Aniimo entry while a round is live. The board is the only place the silhouette, the clue tiles and the submission buttons exist.
- 2Photograph anything that shares a trait
Use the camera button on the board. Any Aniimo matching one of the hidden facts turns its wedge over, and the board keeps a running count of clues found.
- 3Name the target and photograph it
Once you can read the shape, find the real Aniimo and frame it. The camera flags it with a Target Appeared banner while the event is running.
- 4Submit the shot
Submit from the board, or pick a qualifying photo out of your album with the second button. Either route completes the round.
How to read the clue tiles
Every round uses the same five axes, which is what makes the event solvable rather than guessable. Learn what each tile rules out and you can name most rounds from two or three tiles. These are the tiles from the round on the board now.

A sixth panel sits beside the tiles. The Habitat card holds a cropped map of where the target lives and stays locked until one clue unlocks it, which makes it the single most useful thing on the board if you are stuck. Photo mode rules that decide whether a shot counts
The camera is a normal part of the game, but the event adds one behaviour to it: while a round is live the camera recognises Aniimo forms on its own. Enter it from the board’s camera button, frame the animal, and a banner tells you the target is in shot before you press the shutter.
- Your own Aniimo count, other players’ Aniimo count, and wild Aniimo on the continent of Idyll count.
- Aniimo inside the Holo-Battle Sim are projections and Aniimo inside Sanctums are sealed. Neither can be recognised, so neither can be submitted.
- An old photo already in your album is a valid submission as long as it holds the target in the right form.
- Get close. A distant or motion-blurred frame is thrown out before the form check even runs.
Every reward tier
Five payouts, and they do not overlap. Two come from the submission itself, three come from the clue counter that runs under the board. Collecting all five takes one correct photo plus enough trait photos to turn every tile over.

The Wonder Egg is the reason to finish the clue count. It hatches into an Aniimo carrying at least the Alpha or Sparkling mutation, which is a guaranteed rare from an event that costs nothing but walking around. Hatch it in an Outpost Hatchinator or a Home Hatchinator the way you would any other egg.
Round windows and reset time
The event is not a weekly cycle. It runs in four announced rounds, each one a single silhouette, each opening and closing on the 04:00 reset on your own service. The first round is the long one at nine days, and the three after it run seven.

The three services keep fixed offsets that never shift for daylight saving, so 04:00 on the server lands at a different hour on your clock in summer and winter. The tool converts it; the guide will not guess your timezone for you.
Every answer so far
The event has run one round so far. Each tile opens the Aniilog entry for the form the round asked for, which is where the spawn map and the field notes live.
Answers the investigation has already asked for
The strip is a record rather than a prediction. What it is good for is the shape of the puzzle: stage, role, element, Pathfinding and form are the five axes the board picks from every round, and the archive shows which combinations have already been used.
Why a photo did not count
Nearly every failed submission is one of five things, and four of them are fixable without leaving the spot you are standing in.
No Aniimo detected in the photo
Nothing in the frame was recognised as an Aniimo at all.
Move closer and fill more of the frame. Recognition needs the animal large and settled, not a speck on a hillside.
This is not the correct one
An Aniimo was recognised and it is not the target.
The board compares it against the clues anyway and hands you a hint, so a wrong guess is never wasted. Read the newly revealed tile and try again.
The right species, still rejected
The form does not match. Regional forms are separate entries and the board checks the exact one.
Confirm the form on the Aniilog entry before you travel. This round wants the Basic Form.
Nothing submits inside a Sanctum or the Holo-Battle Sim
Those Aniimo are sealed or holographic, and the camera cannot identify either.

A friend photographed it and you did not
Progress is per player. Standing in a co-op session with someone who submitted does nothing for your board.
Take your own shot. Photographing another player’s Aniimo is allowed, so the fastest co-op play is to point your camera at their deployed team.
