PC keyboard and mouse controls

Aniimo runs on a compact keyboard and mouse layout, and most of it is learnable in a minute. This reference lists the English PC prompts by mode: exploration, combat and Catch Mode, menus, photo mode and the Homeland quick bar. Many labels are contextual, so the prompt on screen is always the final word.

The 30-second essentials

Move, act, fight: W A S D moves and the mouse looks. Space jumps, Shift dashes, and F uses the interaction shown on screen. Press C to Twine; when a Twined Climb prompt appears in the Wings Unfurled tutorial, X enters or exits Climbing. Use left mouse to attack or throw an Aniipod, right mouse to enter or leave Catch Mode, Tab to lock on, and 1–4 to select a party Aniimo.

This page covers the keyboard and mouse prompts on PC. The launch version improves mobile touch controls and controller handling, but this page does not map controller buttons or touch controls. If you are still learning the overall loop, keep the beginner guide beside this reference.

How to read the Status column: Common means the input works the same way through normal play. Contextual means the label or result changes with the target, controlled Aniimo or active mode, so read the prompt before you press.

PC exploration prompts

Do not merge every movement prompt into one permanent “Jump / Climb” bind. Some walls use the generic Jump action, while the Wings Unfurled PC tutorial gives Twined Climbing its own X prompt. Its tutorial panel uses Space to enter Celestis Flight; once airborne, the active HUD shows Space Rise and X Exit. Follow the live movement button when another Aniimo changes the context. The Twining guide explains what changes after C hands control to an Aniimo.

T, Q, E and R are action slots, not fixed ability names: Those slots carry different labels depending on the Aniimo and state, including Recall, Dash, Manipulate, Melee, Heal, Revive, Debuff and Combo. For Recall the printed key is T, not K. Read the active creature’s labels instead of memorizing one arrangement.

For the mechanics behind those prompts, use the combat guide. For aiming, pod choice and catch chance, continue with the catching guide.

Why a familiar input can show a different label

The visible HUD is the final check. A label changes when the mode, target or active Aniimo changes; that is contextual behavior, not a broken key map.

    3. Accessibility
    4. Button Assignments
    5. Edit

The editor splits bindings into System, Common and Combat groups and carries a Default Settings button.

  • PCkeyboard scope

    Its selectors are controller buttons

Button Assignments lists controller selectors, not keyboard ones, so treat the prompts on this page as your PC map rather than hunting for a keyboard profile inside that screen.

  • Replace?in-game warning

    Conflicts prompt a replace

The client carries the warning “Key bindings for {0} and {1} conflict. Replace them?”, so a binding that collides with an existing one asks you to confirm the swap.

Troubleshooting

Cursor visible; camera will not turnIn Camera, release Alt to resume camera movement; hold Alt while using the Camera cursor. Close an open screen with Esc. Moving the mouse or pressing a keyboard key restores PC glyphs after controller input.
Stuck aiming an AniipodWhen the HUD says Cancel Catch, press right mouse. If a deployed command still needs clearing, use the live Recall label (T) or C Untwine when that label is visible.
Contextual action does nothingRead the current label, face the intended target and move into range. Press F, Space, X or an action slot only after the relevant prompt appears; a different target or Aniimo can change the label without changing your saved keys.
Wrong device prompts appearThe field HUD switches prompt sets after new input. Move the mouse or press a keyboard key to restore PC glyphs.
A creature facing a closed shrine door at dusk with an interaction mote hovering further along the wall and circling tracks on the ground
Read the live label, face the target and close the last stride; a contextual action is not a broken key.

Frequently asked

What are the basic Aniimo PC controls?

Use W A S D to move, the mouse to look, Space to jump, Shift to dash, F to interact, C to Twine, Tab to lock on, and 1–4 to select a party Aniimo. In the Twined climbing tutorial, X enters or exits Climbing.

How do I leave Catch Mode on PC?

Press right mouse when the HUD says Cancel Catch. Left mouse throws the selected Aniipod, and the mouse wheel changes Aniipods while the Catch Mode item strip is open.

Can I rebind Aniimo keyboard controls?

Button Assignments sits under Esc → Settings → Accessibility, groups binds into System, Common and Combat, and carries a Default Settings button. Its selectors are controller buttons, so keyboard and mouse play uses the prompts listed on this page.

Does this guide include controller or mobile controls?

No. This reference covers keyboard and mouse prompts on PC. Controller button layouts and mobile touch controls are handled separately.
