Pawprint Studio published A Letter from the Aniimo Dev Team on 3 September, thirteen days before Aniimo launches on PC, console and Xbox cloud gaming on 16 September, with iOS and Android following on 23 September. Two thirds of the letter is the studio explaining why the game exists. The last third is a change list for the launch build, and it retires or reworks systems that every Aniimo guide has treated as settled since the July test.
Here is each change, what it means for how you play, and which of our pages changed to match.

- Removed outright
- Runes
Runes are gone
In the July build every carried item had rune sockets in three shapes, runes rolled quality tiers and stat lines, and the point total across a full set switched on the item's advanced effects. Most of the endgame material grind fed that system. Pawprint's line on it is one sentence: random rune slots are gone, and the rune system has been removed entirely.
What survives is the carried item itself. Each one still has a base effect, a core effect and an enhancement track, and that is now the whole decision. Pick the item whose two effects fit the Aniimo's role, enhance it, and stop there. There is no socket-shape lottery, no rune crafting and nothing to farm past the item.
For builds this is a simplification. Every one of our ten build guides carried a rune priority list. Those lists are gone, and the stat argument each one made (BREAK for stagger, ATK for raw damage, REGEN for sustain) now lives on the carried-item choice. The rewritten carried items guide covers the effects, enhancement costs and which item suits which role.
Irisalis is a crafted encounter now
The July route to Irisalis was the Rift Exploration event: a Crevice Beacon per attempt, a fight, a timed calming phase that burned Aniipods, and a shop that sold a Perfect Irisalis for 99 Pearl Cascades. Pawprint says players called it a draining chore, and the studio agrees.
The launch flow has three parts:
- 1Collect legendary tokens
They come from world exploration and story progress, and token collecting is built into ordinary exploring and catching, so progress builds while you play normally.
- 2Craft your Legendary Aniipod
The Legendary Aniipod is personal. You make it, and it is the pod you throw.
- 3Fight once
With the pod crafted, the exclusive encounter appears on the map. Enter, follow the story, defeat Irisalis and throw the pod to seal the bond. The encounter happens once.
Pawprint calls this the template for every Legendary Aniimo encounter to come, so repeatable Rift-style runs are gone for future Legendaries as well. The Irisalis unlock guide now describes this flow.
Prismana odds are flat, and Umbral Aniimo are new
The Prismana changes read like a list of removed frustrations:
- The base chance of triggering Prismana Flow through nurturing is flat. Low Prismatic Energy no longer drags the odds down early on, so every nurture has the same chance. The guarantee stays.
- Lucky strikes. A new catching mechanic that grants item rewards, raises the area's Prismatic Energy and can trigger Prismana Flow outright.
- Umbral Aniimo. Wild Surges triggered by ecosystem nurturing can now bring an Umbral Aniimo: Perfect Potential and a distinctive colouring. Umbral Aniimo also appear by chance in the open world.
- Offerings no longer decide surge quality. Nurturing grants a fixed amount of Prismatic Energy whatever you feed the Branch, so a Growth Fruit does the same job as a premium offering.
- Season-exclusive Prismana have reworked spawn rules with clearer trigger conditions.
The practical change is that hoarding premium offerings and waiting for a Full energy state are both pointless. Nurture on cooldown with the cheapest offering, catch during the surge, and let lucky strikes push the energy. The Prismana guide and the Sparkling guide are updated, and Umbral is covered alongside Sparkling and Prismana.
Training got easier
Four changes, all in your favour:
| Change | What it means |
|---|---|
| Capability Awakening resets at any time below Lv. 60, training items returned | Experiment on any Aniimo under 60 without losing Star Dust or Star Sand |
| Capability caps unlock gradually with level and Resonance star rank | Early caps are lower, so stop pushing Acquired Potential until the next tier opens |
| Capafruit effects transfer automatically during inheritance | A Capability Fruit is no longer locked to the first Aniimo that ate it |
| Legendary Star Dust output increased | More of the top-grade Awakening material from the sources that give it |
The Potential and Inherit guides are updated.
Home is a map now
The Homeland has grown from an RV plot into a multi-area map with house building and a large new furniture set. The rest of the list:
- RV upgrade times adjusted to ease the resource crunch after an upgrade
- Order refresh logic improved, with more order variety
- Furniture groups shareable by code, and higher multi-select limits
- New interactive furniture, some of it placeable out in the open world
- Home Aniimo with new idle behaviour, better work logic and a petting interaction
- Unused furniture sold back at a discount through the Co-op Store
- RV dispatches with a chance to return an egg with the Prismana trait
- Home season events with exclusive furniture and formulas
- Soil-tilling at another Pathfinder's Home for a share of their harvest
Soil-tilling gives a visit to a friend's Home a payoff, and the dispatch change gives the RV a reason to keep running after the farm is self-sufficient. The Homeland guide covers the new layout.
Everything else, in one table
| Change | What it means |
|---|---|
| Sparkling Cube catches guarantee Perfect Potential | Was Elite. The Cube is now the strongest catch item in the game |
| Egg Heist gets more egg types and a Chaos Mode | A new high-difficulty tier; Pawprint says PvP event modes are still being tuned |
| Wild 9/9 and 10/10 spawn rates increased | High-Potential hunting is faster, and the old 1-in-125 Perfect figure is out of date |
| Journey quest guidance rebuilt | Vague requirements and progression blockers fixed |
| Pathfinder Challenge rematches | Rematches against Pathfinder Challenge opponents |
| AI teammates for Holo-Battle Interlink | Fill the team with AI when nobody is online |
| Multi-language voiceover in the main story | With improved translation across every language |
| Better mobile and controller controls | Plus a refined player character and improved NPC models, animations and expressions |
What we changed on AniimoVerse
- New carried items guide, replacing the carried items and runes guide. Rune item pages are retired from the item database.
- All ten build guides lost their rune priorities.
- The Irisalis unlock guide is rebuilt around tokens, the crafted pod and the single encounter.
- Prismana, Sparkling, Catching, Potential, Inherit, Resonance and Progression are updated for the new odds, the Sparkling Cube guarantee, reversible resets and cap unlocks.
- Egg Heist and Homeland carry the Chaos Mode and the multi-area Home.
- Older posts that leaned on runes or the Rift Exploration flow now open with a note pointing here.
The letter ends with Pawprint asking players to keep telling the studio what they think after launch. The launch build on 16 September is the next checkpoint, and every number the letter left out, from token counts to the new Perfect rate, gets measured then.
