Four friendly early-game creatures set out along a bright forked trail, with a runner in front, a glider overhead, a healer in flight and a helmeted scout on a ledge
System guide · Getting started

Best early Aniimo to catch first

Catch Emberpup and Celestis first, add Flutternym as your healer, then chase Helmut when Russet Highlands opens. That order gives you fast ground travel, ranged damage and vertical reach, sustain, then control and BREAK payoff without waiting for four endgame rarities. If Nimbus Fields is not open yet, follow the opening route first.

The four early lines to chase

The useful shortlist is not four creatures that do the same damage job. It is four lines that arrive in a sensible order, solve different problems immediately and still offer a worthwhile evolution target later.

A best-first list is not a tier list: The live Aniimo tier list compares combat standing. An early-catch list also weighs when a species appears, which missing job it fills and whether its evolution remains worth building.

How the picks fit the live tier board

The community mirror generated on 28 August 2026 covers 227 roster entries and ranks 157 of them from 667 ballots. Most stages across the four recommended lines read S there, and none of their base entries carries more than 7 ballots, which is far too thin a sample to separate them. So the table prints the letter and the ballot count behind it, and the roster order still rests on availability, role coverage and kit evidence.

Use the board as a tie-breaker: Do not re-plan a roster on three-ballot letters. Compare ranks when two catches compete for the same job, then let availability and team need decide. Re-read the board once retail ballots arrive and the editorial list is published.
03

Start with the fast fire line

Emberpup is the easiest recommendation to act on because its habitat includes Nimbus Fields. It is a DPS with Hustle, a mobility action that increases movement speed while consuming stamina. That shortens the empty travel between catches from the moment free exploration begins.

  • Emberpup
    Availability
catch one in Nimbus Fields instead of routing to a late region for the first attacker.
    Immediate coverage
melee fire damage and fast ground movement.
    Runway
Emberpup evolves through Flameruff and can finish at Scorchhowl.
    Breadth
the final kit can carry fire, earth and electric attacks, so one line answers more than its native typing suggests.
    • Flameruff
    • Scorchhowl

The Hustle action is visible at lower right while the twined runner covers open ground. Mobility saves time on every route, not only in combat.
Twining replaces a separate mount: Aniimo handles traversal through creature mobility while twined. There is no separate hoverboard system in the current data, so build the route around the Twining guide and the mobility actions your roster actually owns.
04

Add range and vertical reach

Celestis also appears in Nimbus Fields, so the second catch can share the first route. Its official role is ranged DPS, and its Climb Lv.1 plus Fly Lv.1 mobility covers walls and gaps before raw stats become the only concern. It then evolves directly into Stellarys.

  • Celestis
    Range
magic attacks let you work from outside a melee target's immediate space.
    Movement
climb and flight solve vertical routes that a ground sprinter cannot.
    Skill breadth
Stellarys can bring dark, ice and water attacks, complementing the first line's fire, earth and electric options.
    Escape tool
Shadow Magic creates a clone, clears control, retreats and lets the user swap back to the clone while it remains in range.
    • Stellarys
A dark ranged creature moves through a flowered field while a glowing purple clone stands to the right beside the active team interface
The glowing clone on the right is the important detail. It creates space and a return point, adding survival utility to the ranged damage slot.
Ignore the old 145 Physical ATK quote: The current entry for Stellarys lists 125 ATK, not 145. Its value comes from ranged magic, movement and kit breadth, not from being the single highest-stat creature.
05

Lock in the healer slot

Flutternym turns the first two damage lines into a team. Its habitat list includes Nimbus Fields, Sea of Flowers, Mistwoods and Blitzwood, and its role is Heal. Catch it in Nimbus Fields when possible so sustain arrives before a difficult fight forces a separate hunt.

Flutter Heal increases healing by 20% when Flutternym enters the active slot. While it is off field, a phantom restores 0.5% of maximum HP whenever another Aniimo uses a skill or Ultimate. That passive trickle is why the healer contributes even while a DPS remains under direct control.

The wide green field reaches across the active fight. Area healing keeps the whole party moving instead of protecting only the creature on screen.
The evolution is more than a cosmetic upgrade: Gracewing keeps Flutter Heal, upgrades flight to Fly Lv.2 and adds an Ultimate that restores 30% of maximum HP to the whole team. The two stages share a job, but they do not have identical kits.
06

Take the later control payoff

Helmut is fourth because its habitat is Russet Highlands, not Nimbus Fields. It is a Break-role base stage with Detection, so it adds defense and field utility when the story reaches that region. One of its evolution branches is Pawney, but the evolved role changes to DPS.

Pawney can use Hookshot to pull itself toward walls or enemies, while Elastic Sword pulls normal targets into position. Pursuit then adds 30% damage against controlled targets or enemies in BREAK. The line works best after the team can create those windows consistently.

The wall connection demonstrates the movement side of Hookshot. It can close distance or reach geometry before the damage combo begins.
A dark melee creature strikes an Alpha target while a separate yellow BREAK gauge sits beneath the red health bar
The separate yellow gauge marks the BREAK window. The evolved attacker profits from that state, but its official roster role remains DPS.
Do not label the evolution as a breaker: Helmut is the Break-role catch. Pawney is the DPS payoff that pulls targets and deals more damage after control or BREAK has already created the opening.

A practical catch and investment order

Three of the four arrive on one loop; the fourth waits for the region to open on its own.
  • Open Nimbus Fields

    What to do
Follow the main route until free exploration begins. Use the AniimoVerse map only to make a compact local loop, not to cross the region for one perfect spawn.
  • Secure the ground runner

    1. Emberpup
    What to do
Catch a usable Emberpup first. Its immediate mobility value matters more than squeezing the maximum possible roll from the first copy.
  • Add the ranged glider

    1. Emberpup
    2. Celestis
    What to do
Catch Celestis on the same Nimbus loop. The new job and movement options are the reason to stop, even before the direct evolution is ready.
  • Fill sustain before duplicating damage

    1. Emberpup
    2. Celestis
    3. Flutternym
    What to do
Take Flutternym as soon as its Nimbus spawn is convenient. A healer changes the team more than a third attacker with the same coverage.
  • Revisit the list in Russet Highlands

    1. Emberpup
    2. Celestis
    3. Flutternym
    4. Helmut
    What to do
Catch Helmut when normal progression reaches its habitat. It is a later upgrade to the roster, not a reason to rush a high-level region underprepared.

Use the catching guide for the throw itself, then compare copies with the Potential guide. Build the usable copy now and move resources only when a clearly better roll arrives. The progression checklist covers levels, Growth and ascension without turning this pick guide into a second upgrade manual.

Do not wait for perfect Potential: Role coverage starts working immediately. Catch the missing job, test it in the team planner, then improve the roll after the roster can already travel, deal ranged and melee damage, heal and create BREAK openings.
08

Frequently asked

Which early role should I fill first?

Start with Emberpup for fast ground travel and melee DPS, then add Celestis for ranged damage and vertical movement. Healing from Flutternym is the third distinct job.

Should I wait for perfect Potential before investing?

No. Catch a usable copy that fills the missing role, then use the Potential guide to compare later copies. Early access to a new job is worth more than an empty slot waiting for a perfect roll.

Do the healers have a tier rank?

Yes. Flutternym and Gracewing both read S on the current community tier board, on four ballots each. Four ballots is a straw poll, so pick them for the healing job rather than for the letter.

Is the fourth pick a Break unit?

The base catch Helmut has the Break role. Its branch Pawney is officially DPS and gains 30% damage against controlled or BREAK targets, so it exploits the opening instead of replacing a dedicated breaker.
