What an Umbral Aniimo is
Umbral is a state a wild Aniimo is born into. No form switch reaches it and no item applies it. The in-game description is blunt about the cause and the cost: concentrated Vein energy makes the Innate Potential Perfect, and the appearance disappears the moment the Aniimo evolves or changes form. Everything else about the creature stays ordinary, with the same species, the same base stats, the same skill kit and the same element line.

Telling an Umbral from the things that look like one
Three separate systems put dark-coloured Aniimo in front of you, and only one of them is Umbral. The board below pairs each cue with the thing players most often accept in its place. Read the cue first, then the refusal under it.

- What an Umbral catch shows
- The same silhouette, the same element line, the colours pushed to smoke and shadow. Nothing about the creature changes except the paint and the Potential.
- What it is not
- An Umbrabow Aniimo, which is a separate named form with its own Aniilog entry and its own eggs. Turbo has both a Umbrabow Form and the chance to turn up Umbral, and they are different things.

- What an Umbral catch shows
- The client names the state out loud: Umbral Aniimo detected nearby, and the Aniilog offers to start tracking Umbral Aniimo as a filter of its own.
- What it is not
- A Sparkling detection cue. Sparkling has its own separate glow and its own separate tracking, covered in the Sparkling guide.

- Nothing. Umbral is a whole-body recolour, not an effect layered over the normal skin.

- Shadow Sparkling, the dark-toned hidden Sparkling style. It is one of the twelve Sparkling styles and it guarantees no Potential tier at all.

What the Perfect guarantee is worth
Innate Potential is fixed at birth. A wild Aniimo caught with an ordinary Aniipod rolls across four tiers, and the top tier is rare enough that most players go days without one. Umbral removes that roll entirely.

That 0.8% is the number Umbral replaces with a certainty. It is also why an Umbral copy is worth catching even in a species you do not plan to build: a Perfect base is the cheapest starting point for Star Up and Ascension, and Innate Potential cannot be re-rolled afterwards. Capafruit adds one point to each of an Aniimo's six attributes and can only be used once, so it tops up a good roll rather than rescuing a bad one.
Where Umbral Aniimo come from
The client names two places an Umbral Aniimo can appear: the open world and Operation: Egg Heist. Everything else on this page is a route into one of those two.
The three eggs are the only guaranteed source in the game. All three carry the same promise and all three come out of the Lost Isles.

Evolving an Umbral, and what it costs
An Umbral Aniimo evolves normally. The game does not block it and does not hide the button. What it does is warn you, in a confirmation prompt written for exactly this moment.
After evolution, the Vein energy surrounding your Aniimo will dissipate and its Umbral appearance will vanish. Confirm evolution?
Changing form does the same thing. Toggling an Umbral copy into its Prismana Form with a Prismana Orb clears the Umbral appearance, because a form change is a transformation and the prompt uses the same wording. The Orb keeps Innate Potentials, traits and personality, so a converted Umbral is still a Perfect Prismana. It is no longer Umbral.
Which species can be Umbral
55 species carry a dedicated Umbral name in the client, from Umbral Celestis through to Umbral Turbo. That is a majority of the roster but not all of it, and the species with no Umbral entry will never produce one no matter how long you farm them.

Open a species in the Aniilog to read its real element line, skill kit and evolution requirements before deciding it is worth a hunt.
Keep it, field it or trade it
The decision is only ever about the appearance, because the Perfect rating survives every path. Work through it in this order.
- 1Report it first
Take the catch to an outpost Research Console. The rating confirms Perfect, the report feeds your records, and reporting is the only way the copy counts toward collection progress.
- 2Lock it before you touch anything else
A locked Aniimo cannot be released or traded by accident. Do this before you open the evolution screen.
- 3Decide what the copy is for
A display piece stays unevolved and unchanged. A team member evolves and gives up the colouring. There is no third option that keeps both.
- 4Check the trade tier if you have two
Umbral Aniimo are named in the Aniimo Exchange tiers, so a duplicate is real currency with a friend. Scores and roles are easiest to compare in the Aniimo evaluator.

One warning about the Egg Heist half of the hunt. Nothing you trained on the copy matters inside the mode: it balances attributes and switches off the bonuses from Held Items, so what you bring is the in-mode kit priced out in the Egg Heist chips and gear guide. Take the Perfect Umbral out of the rotation you use for those runs.

No. The Lost Isles eggs that can produce either one hatch an Umbral Aniimo or a Prismana Form Aniimo, never both, and converting an Umbral copy with a Prismana Orb clears the Umbral appearance in the same way evolution does.
