EP recovery · Elite Training reward

Somniwing Energy Support

Somniwing is the Aniimo the Institute gives you for 180 Elite Training Points, and it is built to pay for everyone else. Open with the light wave, put a non-Grass target to sleep, then let the carry spend a window that costs it nothing.

Your first rotation

  1. 01

Send Somniwing in before the carry. Ethereal Light Wave costs 0 EP and grants 24% EP recovery for 20 seconds to every teammate it passes through.

  2. 02

Aim Hypnotic Spores at a target that is not Grass-type. Sleeping raises its damage taken by 25% and stops it acting for 5 seconds.

  3. 03

Switch to your damage dealer and spend the sleep window. Hold Butterfly Dance for the moment the team runs dry, not the moment it comes off cooldown.

EP is your skill resource. BREAK is the vulnerable phase after the enemy’s break bar is depleted. An ultimate is the charged special skill. Read the full rotation and entry requirements.

At a glance

Stat priorities

Start with the first priority and work down. These are practical build goals, not simulated stat weights.

  1. 1. HP

The client puts HP first for Somniwing. At 111 it is the largest stat in a 538 total, and the light wave has to be placed from inside the fight rather than behind it.

  2. 2. REGEN

REGEN 115 is the best number in the kit and both support skills scale on it. Ethereal Light Wave runs from 24% to 36% EP recovery, and Butterfly Dance from 36 EP up to 54.

  3. 3. P.DEF and M.DEF

Both sit at 85, so neither defence is stronger out of the box. Match the one you raise to the damage school the encounter actually uses.

Party blueprints

Give Somniwing something expensive to pay for

The kit produces resources and a damage-taken window, so it is worth the slot only next to an Aniimo that spends both. Each blueprint lists the damage dealer first and opens in that order in the Planner. Core slots define this blueprint. Replace a flex member only if its replacement still covers the job described on the card.

Institute EscortRecommended

Scorchhowl and Leafy are the two partners the client lists for Somniwing. Leafy keeps Grass pressure on the target, Glacy covers healing, and Somniwing pays for the Burn Breaker window.

ScorchhowlBasic

Core · Damage dealer

Banks EP for a charged Burn Breaker, which is exactly what the light wave and the ultimate pay for.

LeafyBasic

Flex

Holds the target in place for the sleep window and adds Grass damage while Scorchhowl charges.

GlacyBasic

Flex

Healing Water covers the party and Glimmer Shot adds 15% team damage for 15 seconds.

Fund a channelled burst

Charged CircuitBurst team

Lightning Blade Storm is a channel, so the EP it needs has to exist before the channel starts. Helmut buys the safe window, Gracewing clears debuffs, and the light wave tops up the bar between casts.

FulmintisBasic

Core · Damage dealer

Opens with Enhanced Lightning Blade, then channels Lightning Blade Storm on the EP the wave supplied.

HelmutBasic

Flex

Takes the pressure phase and opens the BREAK bar so the channel runs without interruption.

GracewingBasic

Flex

Heals and removes debuffs so nobody has to break the channel to survive.

Lean on the 25% damage-taken window

Quiet TargetControl team

Sleeping is ineffective against Grass-type Aniimo, so a Dark carry and a Dark second keep the plan intact against the targets it does work on. Glacy holds the healing without needing the Prismana unlock.

PawneyBasic

Core · Damage dealer

Dark damage lands on the targets Sleeping actually works on, inside the 25% damage-taken window.

StellarysBasic

Flex

Sets up the clone and drops Shooting Stars into the sleeping target before it can act.

GlacyBasic

Flex

Heals the team without needing the Prismana Glimmer Shot unlock.

Forms and typing

One form, Grass and Wind

Somniwing has a single form at Grass level 4 and Wind level 3. There is no regional variant, no Prismana target and no Umbral version, so the typing never changes.

Combat loadouts

Keep the wave, choose the second slot

Butterfly Dance and the basic attack hold their own slots. The second slot takes Hypnotic Spores for the damage window or Energy Orb for Somniwing to deal damage itself. Each loadout labels its equipped skills. An optional swap, where shown, replaces slot 2.

Held items

Recovery first, then enough HP to stay

Both client-recommended items raise REGEN. Take the HP item when the reason a wave went unplaced was that Somniwing was knocked out of it.

Evolution requirements

Route 1Somniwing has no evolution line. The Institute hands it over once you have saved 180 Elite Training Points.
Quick rotation5 steps · follow in order

Wave, sleep, switch

Three actions and then the field belongs to someone else.

  1. Step 1: Place the wave through the team

Ethereal Light Wave travels forward and buffs teammates along its path, so the line matters more than the range. Stand so the wave crosses the carry, not past it.

  2. Step 2: Sleep the target before the burst

Hypnotic Spores raises damage taken by 25% and stops the target acting for 5 seconds, but it is removed the moment the target takes damage. Cast it, then switch, rather than attacking into your own setup.

  3. Step 3: Charge Energy Orb only when nothing else is due

Holding the skill button spends 10 Energy every 0.6 seconds for up to four extra stages. A stage 5 orb deals 6 times Might, which is the only time Somniwing is worth leaving on the field to attack.

  4. Step 4: Save Butterfly Dance for the empty bar

The ultimate restores 36 EP at base and up to 54 with high REGEN, and it deals no damage. Spend it when the team is out of resources, not when the meter fills.

  5. Step 5: Leave before the window closes

Nothing in the kit rewards staying. Once the wave is placed and the target is asleep, the field belongs to the damage dealer.

Execution notes

Make the build hold together

Use these encounter rules to preserve the rotation instead of forcing the same sequence into every target.

Sleeping does nothing to Grass

Hypnotic Spores is ineffective against Grass-type Aniimo, and the effect ends as soon as the target takes damage. Against a Grass boss, run the Energy Orb set instead.

Grass attacks, Wind defends

Every Somniwing skill is Grass, which deals 1.6x into Earth and Water. No skill in the kit deals Wind damage, so the Wind half only changes what hits Somniwing.

Where Somniwing comes from

The Institute hands Somniwing over at 180 Elite Training Points. Wild ones also live in the Sea of Flowers and along Tideblossom Coast in Breezy Plains, with atlas pins at 2332,1593 and 2250,2001, several of them at night. Flying level 2 reaches the higher perches.

No Umbral, no Breeding

Somniwing has no gender, which puts it outside Breeding, and its Umbral rate is zero, so an Umbral Somniwing does not exist. Every copy comes from the Institute or from the Breezy Plains spawns.
